The Atkins Diet – A four phase carb controlled diet that is intended to help individuals lose weight quick by eating wholesome foods. Because Atkins is a diet that is high in fat some physicians and nutritionists believe the fat consumption required in these diets is too much.

The Zone Diet – A meal based formula that focuses on eating a certain percentage of carbs, protein and fats at all meals to create a low carb, low calorie diet. Some find that The Zone is difficult to follow at every meal critics believe that the low calorie requirement might be too low to be healthy.

South Beach Diet – A three phase low-carb diet that works with individuals to balance good and bad carbs based on the Glycemic Index. Many users have difficulty with the initial phase of this diet as it is rather restrictive, and late claim that structure of the diet is lost when carb foods are reincorporated into the diet.

Many find this diet requires a lot of commitment on the part of the dieter and that meal planning and eating out is extremely difficult. This diet is not appropriate for vegetarians and vegans.

What’s the Problem with Fad Diets?

Even though you might hear testimonials from real people who claim to have lost a ton of weight with one of the aforementioned fad diets, there is one big problem that most won’t tell you about. While some may be great to lose weight with, oftentimes when you stop the specific diet and return to regular eating habits all the weight seems to come back to haunt you. Then you are back to where you once were.
