- Soy Foods – Soy-based foods contain isofavones that lower dihydrotestosterone and keep prostate cancer from growing too large.

- Grilled and Processed Meats – Scientific evidence indicates that meat products containing heterocyclic amines (HCA’s) in them are associated with prostate cancer. Heterocyclic amines are cancer-causing and develop during the broiling and grilling process at high temperatures. That charred and burnt food really is bad for you. On top of that, processed meats such as beef, hot dogs, lunch meat, pork, and sausage increase a man’s risk of developing prostate cancer. This bad news may be a sign that it is time to sell the grill, or put it out at the curb.
- Dairy Products – Dairy products cause cell proliferation, leading to prostate cancer. This was reported in the World Cancer Research Fund 2008 Report. The Journal of Nutrition published studies indicating that whole milk consumption increased the risk of prostate cancer. The solution is to drink low-fat milk whenever possible.
- Alcohol – Alcohol (especially beer) can not only harm the pancreas and liver, but it doubles a man’s chances of developing prostate cancer, according to the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial.
- Saturated Fats – Investigators at the MD Anderson Cancer Center found that men that consumed more saturated fats were more likely to have higher Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in their bloodstream. The solution is to increase your diet with poly and mono- unsaturated fats.
- Spicy Foods – Foods that are spicy can irritate the urinary tract.
- Sodas and Sweetened Drinks – Reducing sodas and sweetened drinks from your diet reduces your risk for prostate cancer. Plus, drinking more water flushes out your bladder.
- Sodium – Men concerned about their prostate should reduce their sodium intake for a number of health reasons that can contribute to an increased risk of prostate cancer.
