It’s no secret the world of fashion primarily belongs to women. There are literally millions of different combinations and possibilities for them to choose from when selecting an outfit. When a man goes to a wedding he wears a tux, and that’s it. Women could spend weeks looking for a dress.
What this means is that a lot of us men overlook certain elements when considering our wardrobe, thinking it doesn’t matter how we dress.
Next time you go out, ask a woman what she thinks of your outfit… if she chuckles even a little bit, then you’ll see how much work you have to do.
It isn’t hard, it just takes a little effort. For example, when wearing a suit, tie color matters. Don’t wear an orange tie with a green shirt. You need to coordinate and actually experiment with different color combinations to see what looks best together.
And even when you’re dressed casual, maybe meeting some friends for drinks, you still ought to look your best. I’d recommend leaving the graphic tees at home and investing in some nice polos and button-ups. Nothing too fancy, but not so casual you look like you just grabbed the first shirt you could find. Women notice things like that, and they like to know you put some effort into your appearance.
I’m not saying you should get rid of your old clothes. Hang on to those old shirts and jeans for when you’re lounging around the house on Sunday. Just know that the old nugget of advice “dress to impress” still holds true.
