Shrinkage: What Happens And Why

You know the feeling. You get out of the pool or shower and you’re a little bit cold and you look down and notice that your manhood isn’t as big as it usually is. But how and why does shrinkage happen? You arms and legs don’t shrink when they get cold. The penis seems to be the only body part that dramatically changes in size based on temperature or stimulation.

The basic reason is that sperm can only be produced at a temperature lower than 98.6 degrees, or body temp. That’s why the testicles hang down outside of the body. It allows them to stay cool. It’s why when you get really hot and sweaty your balls hang lower and your scrotum seems thinner.

But if your balls get too cool, they try to regulate their temperature by pulling themselves closer to the body. This is why shrinkage happens. The balls retract a bit and the scrotum feels thicker. It’s because your sperm needs to be at just the right temperature.

Some medications or diets can cause penis shrinkage as well. Endocrine disruptors found in pollutants have been believed to have an impact on genital mutations in otters. Bisphenol-A, a chemical commonly found in plastic water bottles has been linked to pregnancy problems for women. The same chemical could be interfering with the body’s endocrine system.

In Singapore in the late 60s, there was a massive “penis panic” where hundreds of men flocked to local hospitals claiming that their penises were shrinking. They were all afraid that if their penis disappeared completely, they would die. They tied lucky red strings and weights to the ends of their penises to prevent them from being sucked up inside their bodies. Chinese doctors have this psychological phenomenon “Koro.” It is said to occur when a man loses his “Yang” energy. If you think about it, “yang” sounds like a lot like testosterone.

It is essential that your body is maintaining proper testosterone production for you to reach your full sexual potential. Testosterone levels have a direct correlation with libido and sex drive, and we all know that if we are not getting as horny as we used to, we aren’t getting as hard as we used to either. And if you’re not getting as hard as you used to, it can seem like your penis is shrinking.

There are many over the counter supplements available that address the problems of testosterone decline as well as “shrinkage.” If you’ve been considering one, but aren’t sure which is right for you, be sure to read my reviews and see what I’ve found.
